Five things that have made you cry...

Lorraine's friend Rory asked her this. Here's her list:

1.) Little Miss Sunshine...it made me laugh, then cry, then LAUGH MY ASS OFF! Then I was crying b/c my ass fell off. What!

2.) Working during 9/11 at CNN because I couldn't escape it but we all have to remember what happened that day and the innocent lives that were lost.

3.) I just finished reading Kite Runner and it was AMAZING! EVERYONE should read this book! The author created such beautiful characters that were living in a country with so much political turmoil.

4.) Imogen Heap's CD. I love, LOVE the song Goodnight and Go. Alex and I sing her CD together and it gives me happy tears. :-)

5.) Everytime I think of my Grandpop Tony. I miss you Grandpapi!!!

Here are mine:

1) Working at CNN during 9/11. I worked in an area called Feeds where we took in every single raw video signal from that day. I remember a co-worker constantly yelling” OMG, it’s the end of the world!” I worked 10 hours that day, was completely spent and then was told to go home because we were going on 12 hour shifts for the foreseeable future. I ended up working that shift for a month. I went home, got into a fetal position in my bed and wept.

2) When I took Lorraine to the emergency room one night. She was in considerable pain, couldn’t feel her right leg and we were there for hours. As I was sitting there in the waiting room I realized that I was in love with this woman and couldn’t take it if anything ever happened to her.

3) Dec. 3, 2005. I surprised Lorraine (I think) by taking her up to Chateau Elan, a vineyard in north Georgia and proposed to her. I had rose petals sprinkled throughout the room, candles everywhere and the proposal on a label of a bottle of wine. That was definitely a tears of joy moment.

4) Reading “When the Elephants Dance” by Tess Uriza Holthe. It’s about the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during WWII. She’s an amazing storyteller and through her words we see how ordinary people must learn to live in the midst of extraordinary uncertainty. It reminds me of my father. He was 5 years old during that invasion and not only was he shot in the leg but he also lost two older brothers.

5) Okay, I’m going to steal Lorraine’s when she mentioned Imogen Heap’s "Goodnight & Go." We sang it in the car last night. We sing all the time and we have a wide repertoire of songs. We do “ Jackson” from “Walk the Line,” “ Afternoon Delight” by Starlight Vocal Band and even “Promiscuous “ by Nelly Furtado. Occasionally we take requests. It brings tears of joy to us, and tears of sadness ( with my singing voice, Lorraine rocks!) to others.

Both of your lists made me cry. So sweet! You two are lucky to have each other.
