You get the feeling after the critical acclaim P.T. Anderson received for 'Boogie Nights', studio execs let him run free for his next film and run free he did. This is a guy who enjoys filmmaking as an art and as a process. Every scene is relevant here and while I think some drag on for too long, others are pitch perfect. Case in point...
