Esa Ruuttunen, a Finnish opera singer, was bicycling to rehearsals at the Helsinki Opera House when a squirrel leaped into the spokes of his bicycle wheel. The sudden attack knocked Ruuttunen unconscious and broke his nose. Instead of preparing for the world premiere of a new Finnish opera Kaarmeen hetki (Hour of the Serpent), he ended up in the hospital recovering from a concussion."He is not yet singing in rehearsals, but thinks he will be able to perform at the world premiere," said Finnish National Opera spokeswoman Heidi Almi. Unfortunately the squirrel did not survive.
